Kitchen Cabinetry

"My wife and I had just moved into our new condo downtown and proceeded to paint the place ourselves. After witnessing the results first hand we decided to hire a professional to spray our maple cabinets. We Google searched "kitchen cabinet painters vancouver" and immediately found Vancouver's Best Painters. I called up the president Rick Anderson and spoke to him about my project. I was immediately impressed by Rick's knowledge and enthusiasm. He spoke at length about the difference between paint and lacquer and the many methods of application. He gave me a very reasonable price over the phone based on the number of pieces I had so I booked him right away. As for the work itself I will simply say that the quality was more than I had hoped for. My wife and I now have a sparkling new kitchen at a fraction of the price it would have been to re-face or to buy new. Thank you Rick and Vancouver's Best Painters for a job well done on my kitchen cabinets."

Painting of Kitchen Cabinets

"Rick Anderson from 604-PAINTER did an excellent job painting my kitchen cabinets. I had my entire kitchen re-modelled and can say without a doubt that he was one of the more enjoyable contractors to deal with. The on-site painting was done quite well but I was a bit disappointed when one of Ricks painters scratched the floor while moving the fridge. I would have given Vancouver's Best Painters a 6 or an 8 out of 10 but it is because of the way Rick dealt with the issue that I decided a 10/10 was in order. He was truly concerned that my husband and I were satisfied so he gave a refund of $400.00 to cover the cost of repairing the floor. My husband and I both appreciated that gesture very much."

Exterior and Interior Painting of East Vancouver House

"I had many contractors work for me while building an East Vancouver heritage house. I can honestly say that Vancouver's Best Painters was one of the very few companies that did what they said they would do...when they said they would do it and without extra costs. Rick and his crew worked extremely hard to meet a tight deadline and my only wish is that the other trades I hired were half as good as Vancouver's Best Painters. Not just a name for a company but a statement in fact! Well done Rick and thanks again. Charnjit Gill"

Kitchen Cabinetry Painting

"As part of a major renovation to my East Van house, I hired, among other contractors, Vancouver's Best Painters to reface (repaint) my kitchen and bathroom cabinetry. I interviewed four companies who all claimed to paint cabinets. As it turned out, Vancouver's Best Painters was the only company who had a separate website totally dedicated to this art; and believe me, it's an art. Without disparaging the first three companies I spoke to, I can, without hesitation, say that the knowledge and expertise displayed by Rick Anderson and his crew was second to none. He patiently went over colour options and explained the difference between "paint" and "lacquer" and answered my every email and phone call instantly. As a mother of two toddlers I was concerned about the odour of the lacquer and the possible negative effects so he made sure that the lacquer his company used was very "eco friendly". Thanks again Rick and crew for a job that can only be describe as stellar. Best Regards. James"

Painting New Office Space

"We recently hired Rick Anderson and his company to paint our new warehouse\office on Venables Street in Vancouver. We looked at many different companies but made the easy choice on Vancouver's Best Painters, as Rick was genuinely enthusiastic about doing the work for us. He had all the necessary insurances and came with all the references I asked for. His crew look were professional and friendly from the get go and it was a pleasure to have around. Even when asked to do seemingly impossible tasks they smiled and said "sure always up for a challenge". The quality of the work was excellent as was the pricing. The job consisted of spraying our ceilings and brushing and rolling our walls and trim. The paint was of high quality and had a uniform look when completed. Thanks again to Rick and his crew for a job well done. Cheers. A Vade"

"Vancouver's Best Painters painted our offices with food, twice now. Actually, he used paint but not only did Rick Anderson do a great job painting our old and new office spaces he twice fed my staff with enough food to choke a horse. LOL. Thanks for the professional paint job Rick but more importantly, thanks for the Chinese food! (haha)"

Interior Painting of Animation Studio: Many Many Colours

"To Whom it May Concern: Rick Anderson and his team from Vancouver's Best Painters painted our new 5000 sq. ft. animation studio space at 200-1224 Hamilton Street within a week in May 2009 and did a fabulous job under a tight deadline. In our industry it is very important to get colours right and the job done in a quick and efficient manner. Rick and his team delivered. We were able to move from our old offices on time and on schedule. They were very responsive to the requests and feedback during the painting process and made sure we were happy with the result. Our creative teams now have wonderful workspaces filled with personality. It has greatly added to their workplace satisfaction. We have received compliments from visitors to our company. I would recommend Vancouver's Best Painters to anyone and I would use their services again."

Exterior Painting of Commercial Building

"To Whom It May Concern: I would like to express the high degree of satisfaction that our company received from a painting project that was carried out by Rick Anderson from Vancouver's Best Painters, during the late summmer of 2010. The job involved the power washing and painting of the exterior of our large commercial building. Our corporate vision is to be one of the most sustainable communities in the world by 2020. Our building is the iconic flagship of our commitment to sustainability and I can say without hesitation that I was impressed by Vancouver's Best Painters swift understanding of the special needs of this project. Due to the high profile location we were adamant that the finished product be first class in every way. A number of aspects of this project provided specific challenges. First, the Hall itself required some tricky techniques with ladders, scaffolding, rappeling and booms, to access all the areas. Second, the late in the season start to the job posed unpredictable weather challenges and a tight schedule. Thirdly, aesthetics and environmental concerns demanded strict attention to detail and rigorous containment and clean-up procedures. Mr. Anderson paid very close attention to the many requests that we gave him concerning certain details, with special reference to cleanliness and full compliance with the letter and spirit of provincial and environmental laws. The painters on site were: neat, professional, well dressed, non-smoking, fast, quiet, discrete, polite and efficient. They were all a joy to be around and it was a pleasure to do business with Mr Anderson. When we have further commercial / industrial (or our own personal residential) painting to be done I would, without hesitation, call upon Mr. Anderson and Vancouver's Best Painters, as they left everyone at our company scrambling for superlatives. We feel that we got the best possible value for the money we were investing and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Rick Anderson and Vancouvers Best Painters for any minor or major assignment of industrial paint application."

Super Job By Vancouver's Best Painters

"I had seen Rick's signs all over the city so when it came time to hire a painter I already had a company in mind. My wife and I had just had a water leak in our house which stained the living room ceiling end to end. Rick and his crew did such an expert job and sealing the stain in and repainting the ceiling to make it look perfect that we had them quote for the rest of the house. Vancouver's Best Painters pricing was extremely reasonable and the work was super. Rick and his crew were on time every single day at 8 am and left at 6pm sharp so that my family and I could have a bit of down time at the end of each day. Every painter on site was a non smoking, non music blaring professional. As someone in the trades myself I can assure you that the level of excellence I witnessed is rare so it is without hesitation that I would encourage others to contact Vancouver's Best Painters for their next painting project. Sincerely Greg"

Vancouver's Best Painters: Impressive Indeed

"I first met Rick a few years back when my condo corp decided to do some painting around the premises. Vancouver's Best Painters was called upon to paint some exterior deck trim on a number of units and to re-spray a common area ceiling as well as a tenants ceiling. I am happy to report that Vancouver's Best Painters did such an excellent job that I hired them for the interior painting of my new townhouse located in the Fraserview area. In-as-much as I was impressed in the first instance by the initial go-around of Vancouver's Best, my expectations were actually surpassed as I was literally amazed at just how quickly and neatly the painting got done. The job was completed ahead of schedule and the quality was top tier. Mr. Anderson himself is a professional who is above reproach, a pleasure to be around and a constant source of information as it pertains to all aspects of the painting trade. It is my hope that by reading my review of Vancouver's Best Painters others will be encouraged to pick up phone and call 604-PAINTER as it's well worth the dime."

Interior Painting

"I work at a spray shop and come into contact with literaly 100's of painters so I certainly had more options than your average person to choose from when it came time to hire a painting contractor. Long story short, I awarded the job to Vancouver's Best Painters. The project was completed in a professional manner. I would be remiss if I did not say I was very surprised that the level of service I received still exists. Rick and his painters completed the project in such a manner that I barely knew they had been in my home during the day for ten straight days. They were efficient, organized, clean and most importantly were very careful of the artwork and antiques I have in my home. Furthermore, Rick had the patience and time to discuss with me the various colours to be used and the quality of paint I required. The colours were exactly what I had chosen. If that were not enough, I got a psychological profile of each colour as each one pertained to the overall feel of my house. I would not hesitate to hire Vancouver's Best Painters in the future and could not imagine any project in the which they are involved would not have a high level of excellence. The rating of 10 out of 10 that I'm awarding is well deserved."

Painting of Office

"I don't usually take the time to write 'good reviews', but I got along so well with Rick, and he did such an amazing job that I thought the least I could do to show my appreciation would to spend 5 minutes writing this for Vancouver Best Painters. Moving into a new office, I contacted a few companies to come and look at painting our walls, molding, and hanging roof to match our company colours. I found Ricks pricing to be bang on for the level of quality i expected. More so, he had all the right answers, tools, and understanding of potential issues the job entailed and approached the project professionally with my best interests at hand. The work was done on time and our office looks amazing. I would recommend these guys to everyone, and look forward to using them on my new house project. Mike"

Project consisted of lacquering our kitchen cabinets

"As a former painting franchise owner I am by no means a layman to the painting business so I knew exactly what I was looking for in a contractor. I called Rick Anderson from Vancouver's Best Painters and was impressed immediately with his knowledge and enthusiasm as it pertained to the painting business. Upon meeting him in person I quickly realized that I found the right company for my kitchen cabinets. His website gave me a ton of information about the process involved in cabinetry painting and anything else I had questions about he was quick to answer. The on site painting was done by his "superstar foreman" who lived up to his billing. I was so impressed with Imad that I was more than happy to give him a tip when it was all done. Rarely have I seen anyone work so diligently, with their nose to the grindstone and with so few breaks. My kitchen now looks fabulous and I have no qualms whatsoever in recommending Vancouver's Best Painter to all my friends and clients. RM"

Vancouver Deck Stripping and Staining

img

Outdoor wood can be dangerous to a painting contractors profitability and professional reputation, and failed exterior wood finishes are the reason why. Stains that let wood grain show through are much more vulnerable than paints to breakdown in sunlight and weather, and while some clients are understandably in love with the look of exterior wood grain, few realize the implications for their future and yours. Staining outdoor wood properly involves more work than just slapping on a coat of brown liquid. The best 604-PAINTER can do is explain the maintenance implications of living with stained outdoor wood, and understand how best to quote on and apply them.

You can choose the very best exterior wood stains, but unless you prepare the wood properly before putting it on, it isn’t going to endure. For longest lasting stained results, exterior wood must have two qualities: a moisture content that’s less than 14percent, and a surface that’s’ receptive and absorbent of the liquid you’re putting on. New lumber always falls short on one count, and often on both.

The easiest way to check the wood moisture content is to use a meter. If you don’t want to go through the trouble of getting one, then rely on time instead. A couple of months of dry summertime weather in Vancouver, is a bit much to ask for but when it does happen, will reduce moisture content sufficiently, even if your wood was quite wet to begin with.

At least as important as moisture, you need to recognize that the surface of all milled lumber isn’t very thirsty. That’s because the spinning action of planer blades cause various degrees of surface burnishing – called – “mill glaze” – a condition that prevents finishing liquid from soaking into the wood grain as far as it should. The situation is even worse with pressure-treated lumber that’s been treated with water repellents. And if a stain can’t penetrate deeply into the fibers, then premature finish failure is almost guaranteed. In fact, for some film-forming exterior stains, removing mill glaze before application is the difference between 6 months of finish life and 36 months.

People have intuitively recognized the problems of mill glaze for decades, giving rise to the recommendation that outdoor wood be allowed to sit for one year before staining. This does open wood pores allowing finishing liquid to soak in more freely, but it also causes another problem.

Once wood begins to turn grey, it indicates that surface fibers have become loosened by the action of ultraviolet rays from the sun. And while grey wood certainly is thirsty, it’s loose surface fibers are also poised to detach from the main body of the wood, allowing the stain to go with it. The result is a prematurely failed finish, though for a completely different reason than with bright new wood.

Chemical mill glaze removers and pressure washing is one option, but sanding afterwards creates an even better surface. It’s not easy work, but it does do a terrific job. A random orbit sander spinning a 60 or 80 grit disc creates the most absorbent wood surface. In some cases it can double the working life of an outdoor stain finish. Whether or not you can convince y our clients to pay for this is another matter. For your own protection, you should also inform them about the ongoing requirements of maintaining a pristine outdoor stained wood. The best transparent stains can deliver 36 months of good appearance in full sun, while many will need stripping and re-application in half that time.

Staining outdoor wood properly in Vancouver isn’t easy. It is a market where many builders couldn’t care less if their stained outdoor wood looks shabby in a year and catering to clients always bargaining for the lowest possible price. That said, properly stained outdoor wood has a powerful appeal that nothing else can match. Requests from customers for staining in Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Richmond and Whistler has always been a big part of business for 604-PAINTER. In fact, places like Whistler is a deck stainers dream come true.
